HARRISBURG – A Jonestown couple is seeking damages after a home appliance allegedly caught fire and damaged their property.

Christopher Zeigler and Sharon Zeigler filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Shark Ninja Operating LLC, formerly known as Euro-Pro Operating LLC, and Lowe's Home Centers LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs purchased a toaster oven manufactured by Shark Ninja. They allege that a fire started in the appliance on Jan. 7, which caused extensive damage to their property.

The plaintiffs hold Shark Ninja Operating LLC and Lowe's Home Centers LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to determine and ensure that the subject product was in compliance with industry standards.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $75,000 and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Richard J. Boyd Jr. of de Luca Levine LLC in Blue Bell.
